ABOUT MARIO

Mario Polit is a New York-based actor and Lieutenant in the FDNY. An Ecuadorian-American born and raised in Queens, Mario has built a thriving career in film, TV, and theater over the past 28 years. His breakthrough film role was in 1995's THE DEVIL'S OWN opposite Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt. He then appeared as Jesus Rossi, the infamous employee of the month who assaults Lorraine Bracco's Dr. Melfi on HBO's "The Sopranos", and in the film THE GREAT NEW WONDERFUL opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal. Television credits include "Law & Order: SVU" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC), "Unforgettable"(CBS), "Forever" (ABC), "Louie" and" Rescue Me" (FX). “Flatbush Misdemeanors" (SHOWTIME),  Judd Apatow's "Crashing" and "The Deuce" (HBO), and Manifest (NETFLIX). 

 

He notably played Detective Hernandez in Lorene Scafaria's HUSTLERS opposite Jennifer Lopez. Then after spending 23 years in the New York City Fire Department holding the rank of Lieutenant, art imitated life when he played NY Firefighter George Rivera in Judd Apatow & Pete Davidson's THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND. He currently lives in Long Beach, NY with his beautiful Australian wife Tonya and their daughter Mia Rose. Mario feels truly blessed to make his living pursuing his two great passions: acting and firefighting.
